The University of Central Missouri Mules football team will suit up in their all black uniforms Saturday for their game at Walton Stadium versus Pittsburg State. They're asking fans attending the game to do the same for Blackout Saturday.

The Mules have a 7-0 record coming into the game and are in sole position of first place in the Mid America Intercollegiate Athletics Association standings. Pittsburg State is coming off of two losses in a row and are one of four MIAA teams with a 5-2 record. Last week's loss was a close one as Pittsburg State lost 42-41 after they missed a potential game winning field goal.

I've said before and I'll say it now. This has all the makings of a great football game. In addition to what I think is going to be a thrilling game on the field and it being Blackout Saturday the Mules have a variety of promotions going on:

  •  It's Military Appreciation Day. All active and retired military members and their families receive free admission to the game.
  • Weather permitting there will be a B2 flyover during the pregame.
  • UCM Sodexo is holding a food drive. Fans who bring two or more non-perishable food items, or $3 cash will receive a free box of popcorn at concession stands. All proceeds go to the UCM Campus Cupboard.
  • As a part of the Western Missouri Medical Center "Day of Giving" campaign, hospital representatives will be on hand to collect donations which will go towards the Advancing Cancer Care, Closer to Home project. The project provides WMMC with medical equipment for cancer treatment and comfort suites. Donation sites will be set up at all three entrances to the stadium as well as at the Mule Train tailgate.

Kick off is at 1:00PM CDT at Walton Stadium in Warrensburg. Tickets are available here.
