UPDATE: Johnson County Shooting Suspect Identified
The suspect who allegedly fired shots at Johnson County deputies over the weekend, has been identified.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the suspect was identified as 70-year old Michael Mcentee, of Centerview.
On Saturday afternoon (Mar 3), Johnson County deputies had responded to NW 475 Road for a report of a man shooting at a nearby residence.
When authorities arrived, they were immediately fired upon by Mcentee with two bullets, striking the side window, and injuring one of the deputies with flying glass.
The report indicates that deputies immediately retreated from the residence to a safer position. As authorities backed up from the residence, Mcentee reportedly moved to a second location within the residence and began firing at the officers again, striking their vehicle. The officers reportedly exited their vehicle, took cover, and then engaged the Mcentee, mortally wounding him.
Both deputies were taken to a local hospital where they were treated for injuries caused by the shattered glass.
