
JoCo Lane Closures on US 50 To Begin September 2
The Missouri Department of Transportation will be closing the left lane on U.S. Highway 50 eastbound and westbound between the Johnson County Routes W and Z intersection and County Road 1501 from Tuesday, Sept. 2, through Monday, Oct. 27.
Crews will be constructing intersection improvements, including the addition of J-turns and the removal of median crossovers. The project is scheduled to be completed in December 2025. All work is weather permitting.
Also,t he Missouri Department of Transportation will be conducting traffic modifications on Interstate 70 between the Lafayette County Routes O and M interchange (Exit 41) and Route H (Exit 45) as a part of the Improve I-70: Blue Springs to Odessa project.
Beginning Monday, Sept. 8:
Lanes narrowed on I-70 eastbound and westbound for work in the median (until Nov. 2028)
Intermittent left lane closures on I-70 eastbound and westbound during the night hours (until Friday, Oct. 3)
All work is weather permitting.
Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short-term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
