
Domestic Assault Incident Leads to Two Deaths in Warrensburg
Two people are dead after a domestic assault incident that occurred Wednesday morning in Warrensburg.
According to the Warrensburg Police Department, two calls were received at 7:20 a.m., regarding a domestic disturbance in progress at 708 Cedar Drive, just east of Mitchell Street,
Officers arrived on scene and located the suspect, armed with a weapon, running on foot south towards Hale Lake Road, or State Route DD.
The suspect fired his weapon several times upon officers’ arrival. Officers did not return fire.
A bystander, Tony Barron, attempted to intervene prior to officers’ arrival and was shot and killed by the suspect. Barron was an Iraq combat veteran who served in the 101st Airborne Division
A perimeter was then established, and local schools and businesses were advised to lockdown.
The female victim in the domestic violence situation was treated and released from Western Missouri Medical Center.
The suspect was later found deceased by a self-inflicted gunshot wound south of the residence in a wooded area at 8:36 p.m.
No injuries were reported by law enforcement.

WAFB later confirmed that the suspect was one of their airmen, who off duty at the time of the incident.
Warrensburg High School entered full lockdown mode after directed to do so by local law enforcement for about an hour.
Other buildings and businesses followed suit, it was reported.
