Up-and-coming country superstar Jimmie Allen is performing at Kanza Hall on December 14, and one of the area's favorite local musicians has been selected as the opening act.

"We've been playing around Kansas City for seven or eight years, and we've made some awesome contacts," Travis Gibson told KIX 105.7. "We're playing Kanza Hall opening up for Jimmie. Someone we've worked with before got a hold of us to play this show. It's our first time playing Kanza Hall, so we're excited about that."

The concert starts at 8 p.m. on Friday, December 14. Tickets are $15. They can be purchased in advance online, or at the door. "I'm doing a 40 minute set. We go on at 8, and I think he goes on at 9, 9:30, something like that," said Gibson.

Travis Gibson has been performing at fairs and festivals around the region for close to a decade. In November, he released a three song EP that is available through all major digital outlets, including iTunes, Spotify, and Google Play. "It's exciting. I've been playing music (since) my mid-twenties. I started playing guitar and trying to write my own stuff. My band and I have been playing all over the Midwest at theaters, and fairs and festivals and bars, and created a nice following...some great fans. I finally got confident in my own writing and I went down to Nashville back in January and recorded an EP, three songs, all original stuff that I wrote. It just came out on November 2."
