A two-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon in Lafayette County resulted in one death and four injuries.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the wreck just before 2:00, on US-24 east of Old Santa Fe Trail.

According to the online crash report, a 2002 Chevy Silverado, driven by 65-year old James E. Frazier, of Waverly, crossed the center of the roadway when a 2008 Chevy Impala, driven by 28-year old Jessica L. Williams, of Alma, MO, attempted to swerve to avoid a collision.

The Silverado impacted the side of the Impala, causing the Impala to travel off the road, overturn, and strike a road sign.

A passenger in the Impala, 68-year old Betty E. Dyer, of Waverly, was killed in the wreck. Dyer's body was taken to Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home.

Frazier suffered serious injuries in the wreck and was taken by Lifeflight to Truman Medical Center.

Williams and two other passengers in the Impala, 33-year old Charles K. Karras, of Alma, and 1-year old Layton Cooper suffered moderate injuries. They were taken to Lafayette County Regional Hospital for treatment.
