If you own a Whirlpool, KitchenAid or JennAir glass cooktop with touch controls you'll want to check and see if it's being recalled. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission "the recalled cooktop surface elements can turn on by themselves, posing burn and fire hazards."

According to the CPSC, Whirlpool has received over 130 complaints of the cooktop surfaces turning on by themselves. Consumers are asked to contact Whirlpool if they have one of the units being recalled. Whirlpool will then replace and install the replacement unit for the customer for free.

So you have one of the recalled cooktops, what should you do until Whirlpool replaces it? The CPSC says the unit should be turned off at the circuit breaker when you're not cooking with it. Additionally, don't leave flammable materials near the stove or empty cookware on the stove.

Fourteen consumers have reported heat damage to nearby items, four reports of items catching on fire, and two minor burns due to the malfunctioning cooktops.
