William V. Doogs, 80, of Sedalia, died Monday, November 12, 2012, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

He was born June 5, 1932, in Sedalia, a son of the late Floyd V. and Elizabeth (Perkins) Doogs. On January 5, 1951, at St. John Church in Bahner, he was united in marriage to Martha Jo Klein, who survives of the home.

He was raised in the Springfork area and attended Smithton School. He served his country honorably in the Army from October 1949 to October 1952 during the Korean War, attaining rank of corporal. He received a purple heart with two bronze stars and a Combat Infantry badge. After the service, he attended GI school to learn how to farm. He worked as a mechanic, owned a trucking business, worked at Alcan Cable for 29 years and farmed. Bill was a humble man and a hard worker. He spent his entire life working and he built a good legacy for his family. He was a member of St. Patrick Church. His hobbies were farming, driving machinery and spending time with his granddaughter, Megan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Barbara Bieri, Terry Doogs, Jerry Doogs, Tim Doogs, and his wife, Gina, and Lisa Wingerter, and her husband, Joseph, all of Sedalia; one grandchild, Megan Wingerter; three step-grandchildren, Robert Odom, Jessica Wingerter and Natalie Wingerter; one step-great-grandchild, Bennett Odom; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Martin V. Doogs and a sister, Delores Johann; and a son-in-law, Kenny Bieri.

Funeral Mass will be 11 am, Thursday, November 15, 2012, at Sacred Heart Church with Father Mark Miller and Rev. Mr. Peter Anderberg officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date.

Prayers of the Rosary will begin at 6 pm, Wednesday, with visitation to follow until 8 pm, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
