Board-certified Nurse Midwife Cassie Caedo has joined Bothwell OB/GYN Associates and will provide care for women of all ages.

As a nurse midwife, Caedo provides family planning services, contraception counseling, pregnancy and postpartum care, breastfeeding education, menopause care, well-woman exams and testing and treatment for various gynecological problems.

Caedo is from Olathe, Kansas, and earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in Nurse Midwifery and a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the University of Kansas School of Nursing. She is board certified with the American College of Nurse-Midwives. Prior to joining Bothwell OB/GYN Associates, she worked as a registered nurse for seven years in labor and delivery at AdventHealth in Overland Park, Kansas.

Caedo said her passion for nursing was sparked in college, but it was in her rotation in obstetrics where she discovered midwifery.

“I encountered nurse-midwives during clinicals in my undergraduate nursing program and developed a profound respect for the midwifery model of care,” she said. “Midwifery focuses on respect for normal, physiologic birth and encourages shared decisions between providers and patients. Midwives are great for low-risk patients and their families seeking a low intervention birth. We also serve women across the lifespan, so the opportunity to build a lifelong relationship is present."

Marvin Smoot, Bothwell’s Clinic Operations vice president, said Caedo will be an asset to Bothwell’s growing women’s health team.

“We have been working intentionally to grow our team of women’s health professionals to offer more flexible options and choices for our patients,” he said. “We’re excited for the care, education and resources Cassie is going to provide that will empower women to take care of their health. She has an enormous amount of energy and passion for women’s health care."

Caedo believes in building strong, positive relationships with patients and their families, maintaining connections with them throughout their lives.

“I want patients to know that I respect all beliefs, cultures, values and backgrounds,” she said. “My understanding of a patient’s needs starts by getting to know them personally. I will hold space for them, advocate for them and create an environment within my care that puts them at the center of their own health journey. I want to build trust and respect with women, providing the best care possible from the start."

Caedo joins Dr. Michael Carozza, Nurse Midwife Brittany Freeman and Nurse Practitioner Megan Ray at Bothwell OB/GYN Associates.
