Authorities say one man was killed and another wounded after a gunman fired into a vehicle in St. Joseph.

The St. Joseph News Press reports that the shooting happened Monday night on a street a few blocks north of the city’s downtown. Witnesses reported a vehicle accident followed by gunshots. Police Sgt. Brett Kelley says investigators believe both victims were shot while inside a vehicle. The shooter drove away.

Kelley says authorities have identified a possible suspect but didn’t immediately make any arrests. St. Joseph police identified the victim as 29-year-old Mack D. Jenkins. The second victim, who was taken to a local hospital, was identified as a 23-year-old black male.
