1 Killed, 2 Injured in Jackson County Wreck
One woman was killed and two others injured in a head-on Jackson County vehicle collision Monday night.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the wreck at approximately 9:30, on I-70 just west of Adams Dairy Parkway.
According to the online crash report, a 2011 Cadillac, driven by 37-year old Desiree C. Smith, of Blue Springs, was traveling west in the eastbound lane of I-70 when it struck a 2003 Ford head-on.
The driver of the Ford, 44-year old Heather R. Blackman, of Blue Springs, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her body was taken to the Jackson County Medical Examiner's Office.
A passenger in the Ford, 18-year old Chloe D. Atkinson, also of Blue Springs, suffered moderate injuries. She was taken to Centerpoint Medical Center by EMS for treatment.
Smith suffered serious injuries and was also taken to Centerpoint Medical by EMS for treatment. She was later charged with Felony Manslaughter, DWI, No Insurance and Driving on the Wrong Side of the Interstate.
Both vehicles were totaled and towed.
