Basketball fans will have a chance to watch high school teams from throughout the area at the 16th annual W-K Holiday Shoot-Out this month, at State Fair Community College.

A press release from State Fair Community College, states the event will feature 62 teams playing 31 games. The shoot-out begins Dec. 14 and continues Dec. 15, Dec. 16, Dec. 17, Dec. 27, and Dec. 28 at the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center on the Sedalia campus. Admission is $5 a day, per person. Children 12 and under are admitted free. The Sacred Heart and Smith-Cotton games on Saturday can be heard live here. 

Dec. 14—Northwest and Leeton girls will play at 6 p.m. and the boys at 7:30 p.m.

Dec. 15—Tuscumbia and New Franklin girls will play at 4:30 p.m. and the boys at 6 p.m. Green Ridge and Lakeland girls will play at 7:30 p.m. and the boys at 9 p.m.

Dec. 16—LaMonte and Chilhowee girls will play at 4:30 p.m. and the boys at 6 p.m. Warsaw and Pilot Grove girls will play at 7:30 p.m. and the boys at 9 p.m.

Dec. 17—Smithton and Bunceton girls will play at 10:30 a.m. and the boys at noon. Skyline and Adrian girls will play at 1:30 p.m. and the boys at 3 p.m. Santa Fe and Sacred Heart girls will play at 4:30 p.m. and the boys at 6 p.m. Battle and Smith-Cotton girls will play at 7:30 p.m., and Rock Bridge and Smith-Cotton boys will play at 9 p.m.

Dec. 27—Stover and Versailles girls will play at 10:30 a.m. and the boys at noon. Otterville and St. Elizabeth girls will play at 1:30 p.m. and the boys at 3 p.m. Sweet Springs and Marshall girls will play at 4:30 p.m. and the boys at 6 p.m. Concordia and Lincoln girls will play at 7:30 p.m and the boys at 9 p.m.

Dec. 28—Tipton and Kingsville girls will play at 1:30 p.m. Mack’s Creek and Knob Noster girls will play at 3 p.m. and the boys at 4:30 p.m. Rich Hill and Cole Camp girls will play at 6 p.m. and the boys at 7:30 p.m.

The title sponsor of the event is W-K Chevrolet. Co-sponsors are McDonald’s, Pummill’s Sporting Goods, Culligan, Pepsi, Ditzfeld & Weaver Charter Service, BackBone of Health, Hank’s Portables and Septic Services, and Jones Brothers Marine.

Tom Knight, former athletic director at Smith-Cotton High School, came up with the idea for the shoot-out 16 years ago. SFCC hosted the first shoot-out in 2001.
