The year was 1992.  We were all introduced to Billy Ray Cyrus.  And his haircut.  Oh my goodness, what an amazing mullet.  It became almost as popular as his hit song 'Achy Breaky Heart'.  Well like it or not, it may be making a comeback.

A 'mullet' hairstyle is described as having you hair cut shorter at the front and sides, but is longer at the back.  Whether you call it a Kentucky waterfall, Mississippi mudflap or a Missouri compromise, the mullet is now more than just a haircut – it’s a national competition.  And believe it or not, there is a Mullet Championship and Missouri has 4 kids in the running for the title.

25 kids and 11 teens are in the running for the title.  There are 4 boys from Missouri that are in the running. — Bowdin Macy, of Carthage; Nolan Schanz Jr., of Festus; Zander Trainer, of Kennett; and Cash Larrison, of Catawissa.

So how are their mullets? You can click HERE to see them.  And read a bit more about them HERE. You have until the end of business Aug 19th to cast your votes for your favorite.

As a man who have never had long hair, I just cannot relate to this, but I thought the irony of a follically challenged man writing an article about the unique hairstyle that has in some circles made a comeback would be funny.  Anyway, vote for the kids and lets make sure the 2022 Mullet Championship comes to the Show Me State.  Good luck kids!
