All SFCC Clinton, Sedalia Registered Nurse Students Pass NCLEX Exam

On the first attempt, 100 percent of State Fair Community College’s May 2021 Registered Nurse graduates from the Clinton and Sedalia campuses passed the NCLEX-RN exam.

This graduating class in Clinton included the first paramedics who entered the program in fall 2020 with the goal of transitioning into registered nurses. The total number of graduates were 17.

The National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) determines if students are prepared to begin practicing as an entry-level nurse. This exam measures students’ abilities to apply and analyze nursing knowledge learned in school and their abilities to use critical thinking skills to make correct nursing decisions.

“We are very proud of our Clinton and Sedalia nursing students for passing the rigorous NCLEX exam on their first attempt,” said Allison Brosch, SFCC Associate Degree in Nursing program director. “This 100 percent pass rate is simply the result of our students’ and faculty’s persistence and determination along with our clinical partners who allow students to apply what they are learning to the care of patients.”

SFCC’s Registered Nursing and Licensed Practical Nursing programs have been recognized as the #1 rated program in Missouri for several years by RegisteredNursing.org and PracticalNursing.org, nursing advocacy organizations. One of the factors for this high ranking is how well a program supports students toward licensure and beyond.

SFCC’s competency-based bi-level program, which is approved by the Missouri State Board of Nursing, prepares students to meet the requirements to become a licensed practical nurse (Year One), then transition seamlessly to associate degree nursing (Year Two) if the goal is to become a registered nurse. Those who are already certified LPNs or paramedics can apply to the Year Two program. Completion of these programs does not guarantee eligibility to take the licensure exams.  In addition to Clinton and Sedalia, the program is offered in Eldon.

Starting in the fall, the Year Two nursing classes in Clinton will be available in hybrid format, and nursing students will have the option to choose web conference or on-ground classes.
