Beginning next month, area deer hunters can apply online through the Missouri Department of Conservation’s website, for a chance at more than 100 managed deer hunts throughout the state.

The managed deer hunts are for archery, muzzleloading, and modern firearms. The hunts will take place from mid-September through mid-January at conservation areas, state and other parks, national wildlife refuges, and other public areas.

According to a press release from the MDC, some of the managed hunts are held specifically for children or for people with disabilities.

The application period will be held from July 1 - 31. The press release says that hunters are selected by a weighted-random drawing. The results will be available September 1 through January 15, 2018. Applicants who are drawn will receive area maps and other hunt information in the mail.

For more information about the managed deer hunts and to apply, visit mdc.mo.gov/managedhunt.

Details about managed hunts can also be found at MDC offices and nature centers in early July.
