Though 'Pacific Rim' only made a little over a hundred million dollars domestically, the film had not only passionate fans, but a much larger audience internationally, which helped bring the $200 million project into a place where today director Guillermo del Toro announced that 'Pacific Rim 2' will hit theaters April 7, 2017.

A few weeks back, the shortlist of directors up for 'Snow White and the Huntsman 2' was made public and it looks like Universal has now made their choice: Frank Darabont, best known for the much beloved 'The Shawshank Redemption,' is currently in talks to helm the film.

'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' is starting to ramp up their marketing and will release a new trailer this week (which will surely be in front of producer Michael Bay's new movie 'Transformers: Age of Extinction'). Steven Spielberg has been lining up projects left and right, but one might become the front-runner for his next movie with this latest announcement: Joel and Ethan Coen have been hired to write Spielberg's currently untitled Cold War thriller, which is tentatively set to star Tom Hanks.

'Transformers: Age of Extinction' has just debuted a new trailer, and it's been released just in time to play before this weekend's 'Godzilla.' It's as if Michael Bay and company are saying "yeah, you've may have a fire breathing gigantic lizard, but we've got fire breathing gigantic dinobots. Check. Mate."

Picking up the baton from John Williams (and Don Davis), fan favorite Michael Giacchino will score 'Jurassic World.' Best known for his work on Pixar films and J.J. Abrams' movies and shows, he's clearly on his way to becoming the new Williams, so his hiring makes sense.

'The Flintstones' is being rebooted for the cinema, though this time (back) as a cartoon, with the help of Will Ferrell and Adam McKay. They'll be producing the film, which has already got a writer attached.

Steven Spielberg has hired Tony Kushner to adapt David Kertzer's religious period drama novel 'The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara' for the big screen, which suggests that the director may eventually make it. But it seems that it won't be Spielberg's next effort, even though he doesn't have his next film lined up.
