Bernice Elaine (Holland) Payne, 89, of Smithton, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2013 at Tipton Oak Manor, Tipton, MO.  She was born on February 11, 1924, in Montana, a daughter of Homer and Bessie (Neilson) Holland.

She was united in marriage to Lloyd Payne, who preceded her in death on August 18, 1993.

Bernice served as a Red Cross and Open Door Ministry Volunteer.  She was a proud and active member at Providence Baptist Church for the last 20 years.   She is survived by one son, Morris Payne and his wife Sally of Tipton, MO; one granddaughter, Melissa Hampton; two grandchildren, Ashleigh and Philip Hampton and one sister Mary Jane Brown of Springfield, MO.   Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Scott and Beth Ripley; and one brother Charles Holland.   A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Providence Baptist Church with Rev. Leroy Moon and Rev. Gary Payne officiating.   Memorial contributions are suggested to Providence Baptist Church in care of Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.
