Bishop Jones Honored For Faithful Service to Sedalia Community

Bishop Paul Jones was honored at a dinner and roast held at Burns Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 207 East Pettis, last Saturday night, Sept. 23.

The ceremony, attended by friends, family, church members and community leaders, was to honor Bishop Jones for his seven years of being bishop of Burns Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, starting in that position in 2016.

Bishop Jones told KSIS he has served in the ministry for 39 years.

Eastern Commissioner Israel Baeza presented Bishop Paul Jones with the inaugural Eastern Commissioner Community Leadership Award, which commended Bishop Jones for his faithful service, his tireless dedication to making our community a better place, and his unwavering commitment to fostering unity among its residents.

“The award was established to recognize and honor the diverse accomplishments of individuals in Pettis County,” Commissioner Beaza said in a press release.

Sedalia Mayor Andrew Dawson read aloud a proclamation honoring Bishop Jones:

“Bishop Paul L. Jones has faithfully and selflessly served as the pastor at Burns Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Sedalia, and his spiritual guidance, leadership, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the community have enriched the lives of countless individuals and families. Bishop Jones’s dedication to service extends beyond the walls of the church, reflecting a broader commitment to the well-being and moral fabric of the City of Sedalia. His influence has been a beacon of hope, fostering unity, understanding, and love, and his contributions to the community deserve special recognition and gratitude,” Mayor Dawson said.

The Mayor then proclaimed Sept. 23-24 as Bishop Paul L. Jones Days in Sedalia.

“I encourage all citizens to recognize and celebrate the remarkable achievements and dedicated service of Bishop Paul L. Jones, whose legacy will continue to inspire us all,” Mayor Dawson concluded.
