Authorities say a suspect in the killing of a co-worker at a southwest Missouri residential care home is believed to have died in a vehicle fire.

The Joplin Globe reports that police identified 19-year-old Monte Little Jr. as the employee killed Monday night at The Arc of the Ozarks care home in Joplin. Another body was found about two hours later in the suspect’s burning vehicle along a road in the nearby town of Carthage.

Joplin police Capt. Trevor Duncan described the deaths as “an isolated incident between people known to each other.” But he says that until the body found in the vehicle is positively identified as that of the suspect, authorities won’t release more information on what led up to Little’s homicide.

Autopsies are pending on both bodies.
