BOONVILLE, Mo. (AP) — The Boonville school district says it will hire an investigator to look into the role of any district employees during a stunt at the Missouri State Fair that mocked President Barack Obama.

On Saturday night at the fair, a clown wearing an Obama mask appeared and spectators were asked if they wanted to see "Obama run down by a bull."

The Columbia Tribune reports the district's statement does not name Superintendent Mark Ficken as the subject of the investigation. Ficken was the announcer at the bull riding event Saturday and no other Boonville district employees are known to have had a role in the anti-Obama stunt.

Ficken has said through his attorney that he had no advance knowledge that the stunt was planned.
