Bothwell Regional Health Center will conduct a Safe Sitter babysitting education class on Saturday, October 20.

The class will be held from 7:30 a.m. t- 2:30 p.m. at the Bothwell Education Center, located at 600 E. 14th Street.

Bothwell says the class is designed for children in grades 6 - 8, who are ready to enter the world of babysitting. The Safe Sitter Program is described as a comprehensive, one-day course that includes pediatric CPR training that can teach young teens and preteens how to be better, safer babysitters.

Students in the class will also have the opportunity to learn about injury management and prevention, childcare essentials, behavior management, the business of babysitting, and how to care for a choking child or infant.

Course materials are designed for students in 6th-8th grades. The cost for the class is $35.00 and includes a messenger bag containing babysitting essentials.

Preregistration is required and payment is due by Friday, Oct. 12. For more information and to register, call 827-9138. Bothwell noted that class size is limited.
