Spring days may have just begun but the Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri is thinking further ahead to the warm days of summer. Club staff are beginning the plan for the 2016 Summer Program, to be held June 6 to August 12 at Parkview Elementary.

“We are excited to offer the Summer Program for the many families who need not only child care during the summer, but also a place where their child will be able to take part in educational programming opportunities,” said Director of Operations Tyler Hudson.

Once again Club members will be split into four age categories: Kinder Camp, those who have just completed kindergarten; Elementary Club, for first through fourth grades; Tween Club, for fifth and sixth grade; and Teen Club, for those 13-years-old and up. Each group will be able to take part in age-appropriate hands-on learning activities that focus on the Club’s three priority outcomes of Academic Success, Character and Leadership Development and Healthy Lifestyles.

“All of our programs have a focus on academics and preventing summer learning loss with a fun twist,” Hudson added. “Programs will include favorites such as Grossology, Construction, Triple Play, Cooking, Outdoor Adventures, Gardening and more.”

The Elementary Summer Program will take place from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Parkview Elementary. Cost is $10 per day and includes breakfast, lunch and a snack.

The Teen Summer Program will take place from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Club’s downtown location, 314 S. Washington Ave. Cost is $5 per day and includes breakfast, lunch and a snack.
