Friends & Family Show Support for Pollitt’s Senatorial Campaign

About 75 people attended a fund-raising get-together at Ken Weymuth’s house on Tuesday to support Brad Pollitt’s campaign to become a Missouri Senator of District 28.

Also attending and endorsing Pollitt was Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe, who just happened to be in Sedalia that same day to announce the Clarendon Road Improvement Project at the Missouri State Fairgrounds.

Pollitt is currently a Republican State Rep. of District 52 and is hoping to replace term-limited Sandy Crawford in the district that includes the counties of Benton, Cedar, Dallas, Henry, Hickory, Pettis, Polk, St. Clair and Vernon. Sen. Crawford attended the mixer as well in addition to State Rep Rodger Reedy, District 57.

Also attending were Sedalia Mayor Traves Williams, Pettis County Presiding Commissioner Bill Taylor and Eastern Commissioner Israel Baeza.

During his speech, Pollitt thanked his supporters and friends involved in agriculture, high school sports and education.

“I’ve passed more public school bills in the House of Representatives than anybody’s who’s been there in nine years,” Pollitt said. “But I do believe parents need some choices. And that gets me crossways with some of those organizations, but I do believe that.”

He added that “we’ve got two months, it’s going to be a long haul. I will work. I’ve been every where that I can be. My calendar is full for June and July. And my expectation is to win come August 5. If I don’t win, I’ll still be the most blessed man that I know,” Pollitt said, choking up a bit while looking at his wife in the crowd. “But I’m planning on winning, and I’m planning on thanking you for your support.”

Pollitt faces Sam Alexander and Chuck Lentz in the Aug. 4 primary. The winner will face Democrat Mike McCaffree in the general election in November.
