The Sedalia City Council amended an ordinance on Monday night that redefines some jobs duties in Community Development.

According to City Administrator Kelvin Shaw, the restructuring was needed to more clearly fit the City's approach to achieving code compliance as part of the desire for neighborhood revitalization.

Council members approved changing the job descriptions of building inspector, housing specialist and code enforcement officer, to building inspector/neighborhood services, neighborhood services specialist and neighborhood improvement officer.

The change will facilitate neighborhood revitalization, rather then just pure code enforcement, Shaw noted.

Code Enforcement will now report to the Building Official, Shaw said, and a planner position will be added as well.
