Due to a weather forecast with low wind-chill temperatures on Monday, the Veterans Day parade, organized by Smith-Cottton JROTC, will now be held on Saturday, Nov. 16 with a start time of 1 p.m., according to Lt. Col. Harry L. Cunningham, US Army JROTC Senior Army Instructor.

"We will still have the Veterans Day breakfast and ceremony at Smith-Cotton High School as originally planned -- 7:30 a.m. for breakfast; 8:30 for the ceremony," he noted.

Indeed, the forecast at this point calls for a high of 31 and and overnight low of 14 on Monday, with a 50 percent chance of snow showers.

"Wind-chill temperatures on Monday make it unsafe for both participants and viewers to attend a parade on Monday afternoon, especially when some of the parade entries are elementary school students, according to CSM Randall Woods, US Army (Ret) JROTC Instructor.

"We ask all parade entries be lined up by 11:45 a.m., so we can start at 1 p.m. sharp. If you are unable to participate, please let me know so I can make sure the line up is correct," Woods said.

"Thank you for all you do in helping us to honor our Veterans." he concluded.
