Endurance the Key to Victory at Lucas Oil Speedway Saturday

After lots of bumping, banging and spins during the inaugural Enduro Easter Bowl 150 at Lucas Oil Speedway Saturday night, Clay Goodman of Carthage beat 36 other racers to win and took home the $1,500.00 prize.

This is according to Lucas Oil Speedway.

For those unaware, Enduro races reward those who successfully endure the marathon nature of these races, and while Goodman may not have had the fastest car on the track all night, he still managed to bring it home two laps in front of runner-up Troy Mitchell.

“I’ll get to keep that one forever,” Goodman said in victory lane according to a Lucas Oil Speedway media release.

Jeremy Wilson of Humboldt, Kansas placed third and Sedalia's Butch Knox came in fourth. Finishing fifth was Scott Lampe of Fair Grove who lead a race-high 77 laps.

Lampe took the lead on lap 83 of the feature but began to slow on lap 127 with steering issues and after having problems navigating turn one twice, Goodman was able to pass Lampe and wound up winning the race.

In victory lane, Goodman said, “It feels pretty good. I didn’t expect this to happen. I’m pretty happy" according to the release from the race track. Gordon also mentioned that his car, which he purchased for this event, had been sitting for six years prior to his buying it.

Next up at Lucas Oil Speedway are the MLRA Spring Nations set for next Friday and Saturday, April 22-23. Friday night will be the Cedar Creek Beef Jerky USRA Modifieds and Show Me Vintage Racers. Saturday night features the Cedar Creek Beef Jerky USRA Modifieds, the O'Reilly Auto Parts USRA Stock Cars, and the Ozark Golf Cars USRA-B Mods joining the MLRA Late Models.
