Ernest Ray Fluty, 90, of Houstonia, passed away Monday, May 18, 2015, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg.

He was born October 12, 1924, in Clifton City, son of Elbert and Nellie Fluty. He was raised by his aunt, Gertrude Fluty.

In 1942, Ray married Dorothy Juanita Powers, who preceded him in death April 6, 2008.

Ray grew up a Methodist.

He served honorably in the U.S. Army during WW II as a medic in the European Theater.

He retired from Panhandle Eastern Pipeline in Houstonia.

Ray was an expert horseshoe pitcher and enjoyed watching sports.

He is survived by three sons, John Fluty (Glenda), of Sedalia, Tom Fluty (Sandy), of Kansas City, MO, and Rick Fluty (Linda), of Warsaw; three grandchildren, Joe Fluty, Lisa Cloud and Kamie Clemens; and five great-grandchildren, Kody Clemens, Evan Fluty, Hayden Cloud, Logan Fluty and Erin Cloud.

Besides his wife he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 21, 2015, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Rob Ayers officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at Heckart Funeral Home.

Casket bearers will be Rick Fluty, Tom Fluty, John Fluty, Joe Fluty and Brent Cloud.

Burial will be in Houstonia Cemetery with military honors.

Memorials are suggested to the Missouri Veterans Home in care of the funeral home.
