A Florissant man died and a St. Louis man was seriously injured in a head-on crash that occurred Tuesday night in Saline County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a westbound 2006 Hummer H2, driven by a 72-year-old man from Florissant, was on I-70 at the 64.8 mile marker just before 9 p.m., when the Hummer crossed through the median and began traveling west in the eastbound lanes of I-70. The Hummer eventually came to a stop and was struck head-on by an eastbound 2024 Subaru Crosstrek, driven by a 59-year-old man St. Louis.

 

The Florissant man was pronounced dead at the scene and the body was transported to the Saline County Coroner’s Office. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the report.

 

The St. Louis man suffered serious injuries and was transported to Centerpoint Medical Center for treatment.

Both vehicles were totaled and towed by Don’s Truck Towing out of Sedalia.

 

Saline County Deputies, Lafayette County Deputies and Sweet Springs Police assisted the seven Troopers on scene.
