Frontier Airlines began today nonstop service between Orlando, Fla. (MCO), and Columbia, Mo. (COU), with two weekly nonstop flights beginning on Nov. 20, 2012. This will be the only nonstop service from Columbia to Orlando International Airport.

"With the addition of Frontier’s nonstop service to Orlando, customers in the Columbia/Jefferson City region can now enjoy a low fare option into Orlando’s most convenient airport, where you’re closer to all the key attractions and can start your vacation sooner," said Daniel Shurz, Frontier’s senior vice president, commercial. "Additionally, Mid-Missouri customers used to spending hours in the car to access low fare air service will now enjoy those low fares with the convenience of traveling out of the nearby Columbia Airport."

"Every day, almost 1,000 people in Mid-Missouri fly to business and pleasure destinations," said Columbia Mayor Bob McDavid. "It’s extremely convenient and reasonably priced to fly out of Columbia Regional. Our passengers already make a lot of connecting flights to Florida and, with the University of Missouri now in the Southeastern Athletic Conference, the market for Frontier is here, like never before."
