Funeral Announcements for February 17, 2023

A celebration of life for James “Jim” Lee Curry, 80, of Sedalia, will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 20 at Rea Funeral Chapel. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Urn entombment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.

A celebration of life for John "Johnny" David Baker, 69, of Sedalia, will be held at 6 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17 at Rea Funeral Chapel.

Graveside service for Jean Evelyn Massengale, 82, of Sedalia, will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery. The family will announce the date and time of graveside services at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Heckart Funeral Home and Crematory.

Funeral service for James Mayo Ellis, 86, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 at First Christian Church. Burial with full military honors by the U.S. Navy and VFW 2591 will be on the family homestead. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.

Memorial service for Elgin Myers Johnson, Jr., 80, of Sedalia, will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19 at Heckart Funeral Home. There will be a reception in the Heckart Family Center immediately following the service. Interment will be at a later date in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Funeral service for Mary J. Herndon, 83, of Sedalia, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation will be one hour prior at the church. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.

A funeral service for Harold Leroy Harms, 94, of Cole Camp, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb.18 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church.  Burial will be in Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery near Cole Camp with military honors by the American Legion Post No. 305. The family will receive friends beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17 at Fox Funeral Home in Cole Camp, with a prayer service to be held at 7 p.m.

A Celebration of Life for Carla S. Caldwell, 78, of Sedalia, will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Heckart Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

A funeral mass for  Mary Louise Mergen, 76, of Green Ridge,will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel.

Funeral service for Leonard Leroy Townsend, 65, of Douglasville, Ga., will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.  His final resting place will be in Powder Springs, Ga.
