An 84-year old man from Green Ridge has died as a result of a wreck that occurred Monday morning in Pettis County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the accident at 10:35, on US-50 at Rissler Road.

According to the online crash report, a Dodge, driven by 53-year old John W. Long, of Cole Camp, failed to yield to a Toyota Prius, driven by 84-year old Earl S. Paxton, of Green Ridge.

The Dodge struck the Toyota in the rear. Paxton suffered serious injuries. He was taken to University Hospital, by Staff for Life, for treatment, where he later died on Tuesday at 3:39 p.m.

Paxton was not wearing a safety device, according to the report.

Long was reportedly uninjured.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
