On Monday at 4:27 p.m., Sedalia Parks & Rec sent out a facebook post indicating that there was an emergency in the aquatics area of the Heckart Community Center that occurred at around 2:50 p.m. Monday (Memorial Day).

“Sedalia Parks & Recreation staff responded to an emergency in the aquatics area. Life-saving measures were taken by lifeguards, then later assisted by PCAD, Sedalia Fire and Sedalia Police upon arrival.

“The minor was taken to a local hospital, then transferred to another hospital,” Parks & Rec noted.

The seven-year-old boy was alert and talking when he left with medical personnel, according to Parks & Rec Director Amy Epple.
