State Fair Community College’s The LearningForce will offer a hobby welding course from 8:30 a.m. to 4: 30 p.m. Nov. 2 and 9 in Fielding Technical Center welding lab on the Sedalia campus.

This course is for people who have no welding experience and want to try it as well as people who own a welder and want to develop their skills for profit or pleasure. The instructor will cover the basic principles of welding for shielded metal arc-stick, gas metal arc-mig and flux cored arc. Hands-on learning and practice will help participants master proper procedures for setup and shutdown of oxy-fuel equipment and butt and tee joint weld applications.

Class size is limited to allow participants one-on-one time with instructor. Cost of the course is $199 per person. Participants are required to wear leather shoes and long-sleeved denim or cotton shirts and bring their own welding hood, all-leather gloves and safety glasses for welding.
