Hubbard Park Celebrates 100 With New Banners
Sedalia Parks and Recreation continues to celebrate Hubbard Park’s 100 year anniversary by adding something to Hubbard Park each month throughout 2021.
For February, we placed new pole banners with artwork drawn by Anthony Mitchell II. Pictured with the 100 year Hubbard Banner is Anthony Mitchell II (left) and Joe Gay (right) featuring the artwork. The banners will stay up throughout the year. We are so excited to share this piece of artwork with the community in addition to beautifying Hubbard Park!
Below is a small bio submitted by the artist Anthony Mitchell II -
“I am Anthony Mitchell II, a junior high and high school art teacher based in Morgan County R-1, Stover, MO. Having worked in the district for eight years, I make it my priority to push and encourage students, every opportunity I get with the expectation that they will learn the skills necessary to nurture artistic growth.
As an instructor, I have a tendency to focus on the importance elements and principles play in art, as well as the aesthetic theories that are associated with the endeavor.
As an artist, I am well cultured and tend to simply appreciate whatever process I engage with at any given time.
My work has been exhibited in several galleries, exhibitions, and juried shows. In addition to this, I have sold my work to patrons around the country.
I have worked hard to master my craft and am always up for a challenge. Lately, I have been engaged in sculpture, mainly under the genre of stop motion, and in the round. I am determined to learn more about all areas of art. The goal for me isn’t to be a master of any trade; rather a practitioner of the arts who is able to express ideas in any media, clearly.”
