Many of us go to church on a regular basis.  Or perhaps you went as a child, and perhaps do not go as much as an adult.

I was raised in a Protestant church as a kid, and went through confirmation classes in my 8th grade year and then was confirmed.  In the eyes of my church, that was an indication that I was an adult in the eyes of the church.

We have the Go The Distance programs on our airwaves on Sundays and 3 times a day through the week, you hear the word of God from various pastors in our area.  Lets hope that none of them have ever spoken to their congregation the way Pastor Carlton Funderburke spoke to his Kansas City Church of the Well parishioners.

In a video clip of his sermon posted on TikTok, Funderburke berates his church members for not "honoring" him with a Movado watch.

"This is how I know you’re still poor, broke, busted and disgusted, because of how you been honoring me. I’m not worth your McDonald’s money? I’m not worth your Red Lobster money? I ain’t worth your St. John Knits — y’all can’t afford no how. I ain’t worth y'all Louis Vuitton? I ain’t worth your Prada? I’m not worth your Gucci?" he said in the nearly minute long clip. You can read a bit more HERE.

This pastor has issued an apology and you can see the pinned post on the Church of the Well Facebook page above.

Not that long ago, I shared a Stupid Criminal story, about some thieves that stole over $1 million dollars in jewelry that a minister was wearing while preaching.  Maybe I am wrong, but if you go to a church, and your member of the clergy is wearing over a million dollars worth of jewelry, I would seriously wonder where the offering money is going.

If your faith is important to you, and I suspect for many of you it is, there are many churches in our listening area, that are always looking for new people to join their congregation.  Find one that fits your beliefs.  Also respect the fact that not everyone will share your views, and do not push your religious views on others.

As for Pastor Funderburke, I hope if he really is a follower of God, he will see the error of his ways, and this apology is not just a way to appease those who come to his church.  You are not supposed to go into the ministry for profit and to enrich your life.  It is to help others and to teach them about the world of God.
