In the Fall of Our Discontent Starbucks PSL Might Be a Life Saver

Are you ready for fall? Or are you at least ready to let one of Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice Lattes cross your lips? Then quick, jump in the car and head to your nearest store because it's now on the menu at your local Starbucks.

Starbucks announced their fall menu is now available and on that menu is the popular Pumpkin Spice Latte and Pumpkin Spice Cold Brew. If that's not enough pumpkin for you, Starbucks suggests pairing it with a Pumpkin Scone or a Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin.

The coffee chain isn't leaving out people like myself who really don't get the attraction of Pumpkin spice everything. For us Starbucks is tempting us with a Salted Caramel Mocha and a Salted Caramel Mocha Frappuccino.

Normally I might be a little frustrated by this. Rolling out fall drinks already? I mean it's not even Labor Day. You can ya know, still wear white. And you might be inclined to go for icy cold soft drink or even a cherry Icee at the gas station. With this weather? Who'd argue with you.

Yet there's something about this year. Where summer seemed to be somewhat cancelled. It just doesn't seem right to be too cranky over the fact that you can go get a Pumpkin Spice Latte. And it's not just Starbucks. The Halloween candy is out too.

I read somewhere that the candy companies were putting out the candy extra early this year because no one knows what Halloween will be like. I don't know if that's from a news story or just a Facebook friend speculating. Will there be trick or treating? Physically distant Halloween Parties? Who knows.

Who knows how this fall will play out. Will we get a handle on COVID-19, or figure out a way we can live with it without it being divisive? Speaking of divisive, how bout the upcoming presidential election? That has all the makings of being the nastiest election in our history. And that doesn't touch on kids going to school, sports, Halloween, civility in general, or even whether we'll be able to celebrate Thanksgiving with loved ones.

So yeah, if Pumpkin Spice Lattes are your thing. Go for that little piece of heaven. Enjoy the few minutes of pleasure drinking it gives you. Life's too short and we're dealing with too much crap to pass it up.
