Farmer’s Almanac: Missouri’s 1st Frost Date Sooner Than You Think

The worst heat of the summer seems to be over in Missouri. I say "seems" because you can never underestimate the possibility that Missouri weather will find a way to surprise you. Farmer's Almanac is already predicting what Fall will look like in Missouri and their prediction of the first frost date is probably sooner than you might think.

This new Fall frost prediction for Missouri comes from the Old Farmer's Almanac. How do they know when the weather will take a turn for the colder in Missouri? Their forecasters use a combination of "solar science, climatology, and meteorology".

What date will it be when Missouri experiences its first frost for Fall 2025?

The answer depends on what part of Missouri you live in. It varies slightly for each region. For Hannibal and St. Louis, they predict that it will be October 22, 2025 when those cities experience their first frost. For Columbia, Missouri, the Old Farmer's Almanac predicts October 25, 2025. It'll be a slightly longer wait for frost for Kansas City as they predict October 29, 2025 will be the frost debut there. What I find interesting is they say Blue Springs will get frost on October 23, 2025 which is odd since they and Kansas City are close neighbors. What about southern Missouri? Well, Springfield, Missouri is forecast to see the first Fall frost on October 22, 2025.

This Fall will be an interesting one for Missouri. There are conflicting forecasts that say Fall will be warmer than normal while others say cooler weather will arrive early. Which one is accurate? It won't be long before we find out as Fall starts in September.
