Mountain Lion Spotted Near Lee's Summit, Missouri Lake

A mountain lion has just been spotted at a location in Missouri where mountain lions aren't often seen. A man has shared a picture of one of these big cats near a lake not far from Lee's Summit, Missouri.

I came across this exciting share on social media this morning from Danny Sutton who lives in western Missouri. He shared a pic of a mountain lion that you can see for yourself with the following description:

"Longview lake in Lee's summit, MO...keep an eye out for this thing"

If you're not familiar with Longview Lake, this is where it's located. Notice that there is a lot of civilization nearby which is the type of land that mountain lions normally try to avoid.

What does the Missouri Department of Conservation say about this potential mountain lion sighting?

I don't know if Danny officially reported it to any state officials, but there's no official report on the Missouri Department of Conservation mountain lion site as of right now. The state records do show that there have been credible reports and at least one confirmed occurrence in nearby Jackson County, along with other confirmed sightings in surrounding western Missouri counties over the years.
