The National Weather Service issued a Tornado Watch for much of the Townsquare Media Sedalia-Warrensburg listening area until 10:00 PM CDT tonight, right as I sat down to write this weather story. While we might not all see storms, or severe storms later this afternoon or tonight, it seems likely we'll have another round of storms to navigate.

The National Weather Service's Weather Story published just before 10:00 AM CDT this morning has most of our listening area at an enhanced risk of severe weather, with those towns east of Interstate 70 having a moderate risk of severe weather. Storms late this afternoon or tonight can bring damaging winds, damaging hail, and even a tornado.

As of Noon CDT, The National Weather Service said storms will develop in the Kansas City area, or move into the Kansas City area between 2:00 PM -4:00 PM CDT. These storms will develop into a line with damaging winds and brief tornadoes being the main hazards. West Central Missouri can expect these storms between 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM CDT tonight.

At this article's writing, 3:24 PM CDT on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 radar indicates that storms have formed and are moving into the Kansas City area.

The current forecast for the Sedalia area calls for a 65% chance of scattered storms for the remainder of the afternoon and early this evening, with that chance diminishing to 40% for the remainder of the evening. After the storms move out of the area this evening, Weatherology is expecting skies to clear. Clearing will occur from Kansas City eastward as the evening goes on.
