Jack Delano DeVorss, 79, of Sedalia, died at his home on Wednesday, March 27, 2013. He was born in Rush, Colorado, son of Jake and Katie (Lindt) DeVorss. Jack and Nadene Hall were united in marriage. Nadene survives of the home.   Jack worked in highway construction in the Southwest from 1957 to 1970. He and his family moved to Sedalia where he owned and operated Jack's Backhoe Service until his retirement. Jack was well liked and known for his fair and honest dealings with others.   Jack was a family orientated man. He was a caring and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. Jack enjoyed having his family and friends at get togethers that were special events or for no reason but to just be together. Jack enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting and camping. He and Nadene ejoyed square dancing and were members of the Country Bumpkins Square Dancers.   In addition to his wife, Nadene, Jack is survived by his children, Roy DeVorss and his wife, Lonnie of Smithton; Joyce Richardson and her significant other, Butch Edwards of Smithton; and Alan DeVorss of Sedalia; 5 grandchildren, Daniel VeVorss, Casey DeVorss, Austin DeVorss, Joshua Baker and Nichole Mittenburg; 6 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Henry DeVorss, Oscar DeVorss and George DeVorss; 2 sisters, Dorothy Varner and Dixie Ewers; and numerous nieces and nephewas   Jack was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol DeVorss; 2 brothers, Robert DeVorss and Ben DeVorss; and 2 sisters, Virginia Vohs and Bertie Lofing.   Funeral services will be at 10:30AM, Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home with Rev. Bill McDowell officiating. Pallbearers will be Frank Mittenburg, Butch Edwards, Daniel DeVorss, Casey DeVorss, Austin DeVorss and Joshua Baker. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.   Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00PM, Friday, March 29, 2013 at the funeral home. Jack's family suggests memorial contributions to the Dream Factory in care of the funeral home.
