Jennings Named Central Bank of Sedalia’s Unsung Hero
This month's Unsung Hero is Green Ridge resident Anicka Jennings!
Anicka is one of the people running the Jennings Arena in Green Ridge. She works a lot with the Honor Flight of Missouri, and has been on fifteen flights with the group over seven years.
Ashton Jennings nominated Anicka, here's what she had to say.
Does all she can for the community and the veterans of Missouri. She is an aide on the honor flights and raises money all year around for them to be able to go on the flights. She will give the shirt off her back to anybody.
Just in case you don't know what it is, I'll explain. Honor Flight is conducted by non-profit organizations dedicated to transporting as many United States military veterans as possible to see the memorials of the respective war(s) they fought in Washington, DC, at no cost to the veterans. These organizations are focused on bringing veterans of World War II to the National World War II Memorial, and any veteran with a terminal illness, to see the memorial of the war they fought in.
But Anicka ALSO does work with the Naval Sea Cadets out of Jefferson City (think like JROTC or Civil Air Patrol, only for the Navy as opposed to the Army or the Air Force). USNSCC is a national youth leadership development organization that promotes interest and skill in naval disciplines while instilling strong moral character and life skills through leadership and technical programs modeled after the Navy’s professional development system. The Cadets start about 13 years old and go through High School, but they also have a Junior program. You can find out more about it by clicking this link.
Anyway, you can listen to Anicka's talk with Randy here!
As Anicka says, "Kindness is free! Try it!" You can try nominating a new Unsung Hero of your own here!
Cadetly yours,
Behka
