The State Fair Community College invitational Show Choir Festival will be held this Saturday, in Sedalia.

According to a press release from SFCC, sixteen choirs from 12 area-school districts will compete this Saturday, January 7.

Critiqued performances of area high school show choirs will begin at 9 a.m. and continue until 6 p.m. when an awards ceremony will be held. The public is invited and admission is $5 for the entire day. Concessions will be available provided by the SFCC Booster Club.

More than 400 singers and instrumentalists are expected to perform, one of the largest festivals SFCC has ever hosted. They will compete for awards in a variety of divisions including outstanding performance in small, medium and large school classifications as well as mixed and girls’ choirs. Awards also will be given for Best Male and Female Performer, Best of Show, Best Vocal Sound, Best Ballad Performance, and Best Choreography.

Junior high and high school choirs scheduled to perform are from Warrensburg, Savannah, Lincoln, Smithton, Cole Camp, Maryville, Cameron, Carrollton, Sedalia, Green Ridge, Raymore-Peculiar and Atchison, Kansas.

The proceeds will help support the college’s Music Arts program. Proceeds from concessions will help support the SFCC Athletic programs.
