KCI Sees 66 Percent Decrease in Passengers Over Last October

The City of Kansas City Aviation Department reports that 354,865 passengers arrived and departed through Kansas City International Airport’s gates in October, a 66.7 percent decrease from October 2019.

Passenger boardings were down 66.8 percent, with a total of 176,164 boarded. For the year to date, total passengers in and out total 3,810,345, down 61.7 percent. Year-to-date passenger boardings are 1,895,535, down 61.8 percent.

Air cargo tonnages for all carriers, which consist of both freight and mail transported by air, were down 4.5 percent in October with a total of 17.8 million pounds handled. Year to date, 163.6 million pounds have been handled, down 7.3 percent. Air freight handled at KCI during October amounted to 17.6 million pounds, down 3.2 percent year-over-year.

Year to date, air freight is down 5.9 percent with a total of 161.1 million pounds handled. Air mail for October was down 51.8 percent from October 2019 with 244,425 pounds handled. Air mail year to date for 2020 is down 52.1 percent from 2019 with 2.5 million pounds handled.

The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures for October 2020 was 83. Service was offered to 28 nonstop markets. There was an average of 18,237 arriving and departing scheduled seats in the market each day.  The all-cargo carriers reported 7 daily arrivals for October.
