The Lady Roadrunners (11-5) defeated Kansas City Kansas Community College 65-41 on Jan. 7 at Kansas City, Kansas.

SFCC held Kansas City Kansas to 10 points or less in three of four quarters to earn the victory. SFCC led 22-14 at the end of the first quarter.

"We were really sharp defensively," said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Nicole Collier. "We adjusted some rotations that we did not see the first half of the year. I think that shows growth and maturity and a better understanding of what we're trying to do. I was very impressed with the way we played the defensive end of the floor.

Freshman forward Jaida Shipp recorded a double-double with 28 points on 11 of 14 shooting from the field. She knocked down six of her nine free-throw attempts and tied for the team-high in rebounds with 11 with sophomore forward Autumn Wallace. Sophomore guard Biance Stocks dished out a team-high five assists. Freshman guard Perryauna Youmans and sophomore guard Paige Spencer tied for the team lead in steals with two.

"Jaida was a big-time player for us today," said Collier. "She caught every ball, kept the ball high and finished around the rim. She was unstoppable around the rim, did fundamentally sound things and had a great afternoon. I thought Biance and Perryauna controlled the game for us. I thought Autumn played sharp as well."
