SFCC (5-1-1) dropped a 3-1 match to eighth-ranked Southwestern Illinois College on Sunday, Sept. 12 at the Fred E. Davis Sports Complex.

The loss was the first of the season for the Lady Roadrunners.

Southwestern Illinois opened the scoring with 14 minutes and 13 seconds remaining the opening half to take 1-0 advantage into halftime.

Freshman midfielder Ally Woolery tied the match with a shot from about 40 yards out with less than seven minutes gone in the second half.

Southwestern Illinois took another lead with about 23 minutes remaining in the match. Southwestern Illinois added the final goal of the match with about 11 minutes remaining to provide the winning margin.

Romero got the start in goal for the Lady Roadrunners.

"Southwestern Illinois is a very good team," said Beltran. "We defended the counterattack well, but they had a little bit more than we did."
