LAS VEGAS (AP) — Two large Nevada wildfires are still advancing through mountain areas near Las Vegas and southwest of Reno, while firefighters add resources and look to the weather to help quell flames.

Fire spokesman Jay Nichols says 50 more personnel are on the fire lines of the Carpenter 1 Fire on Mount Charleston northwest of Las Vegas.

That means more than 800 are battling the blaze identified as the top priority in the West.

It's more than 30 square miles and continues to threaten about 400 homes. It's 15 percent contained.

In northern Nevada, fire spokeswoman Lisa Ross says the Bison fire has grown to 40 square miles in the Pine Nut Mountains near Gardnerville and Carson City.

One firefighter suffered a knee injury Monday.

Containment is reported at 25 percent.
