Looking for something to do with man's best friend Saturday? Celebrate National Dog Day by heading out to Bark In The Park at Liberty Park from 10AM - 2PM CDT. The celebration isn't just limited to dogs either, cats are welcome too!

Bark In The Park is treats, games, vendors, food  trucks, area animal shelters and fun. In fact, if you don't have a dog but are thinking about rescuing one, Bark In The Park may be the perfect place to start (or finish) that process. The Saline Animal League, Ivy Bend Animal Rescue, Hound Lover Rescue and Pawsibilities are Endless will all be there.

What makes this a great time to start the process of finding your rescue dog is shelter volunteers will be there, and they're a great resource in helping you find the perfect dog breed mix and then the right dog for your unique situation, and steer you away from dogs and breeds that just aren't a great fit for you.

For dog owners, you can win prizes for your fur babies through fun contests including: Largest dog, smallest dog, dog/human look alike contest and more.

Did I mention food for the humans? We know you'll slip Fido a taste too! Ninja Truck LLC, B&G Scoops and Table of 5 Catering will all be out there for the event. There's also a silent auction, a course for the dogs, learning opportunities and on site pet adoptions and more.

You can learn more about Bark In The Park on their Facebook event page here. And at Sedaliaparks.com here.

One more thing, the Sedalia Animal Shelter and the participating rescues could use your help so donations are appreciated. Some of the things these groups need are: bleach, paper towels, trash bags, dog & cat treats, and laundry detergent.

See you at Bark In The Park Saturday!
