Looking to hang out at the Missouri State Fair in August and get paid? You can make that happen. The Missouri State Fair is now hiring hundreds of people to help Missouri residents and tourists enjoy the fair this year.

Now, ya gotta work for your money. The fair isn't going to pay you to go and have a good time. If you want to just hang out and have fun you can buy a ticket like everybody else. And, it's not all fun and games. A lot of the jobs are outside, and we all know how hot and sticky it can be in August.

Some of the outside jobs are cool. Like working a tram. I mean that looks like fun. And if you work the grandstand taking tickets or ushering, you do get to watch or at least hear the shows. And if you work backstage, you might run into some of the performers. And then there's a job in publicity, where you might get to act as a reporter and meet some really cool people.

Other outside jobs are less glamorous. Like if you're directing traffic and telling people where to park. Or are selling and taking admission tickets. Or cleaning and sweeping floors, or emptying the garbage bins. It's less glamorous than some of the other jobs but still a very important part of the Fair's ecosystem.

There are a few "inside" jobs you can work, like revenue or the carnival ticket booths. But by and large, if you're working the fair. Expect to work hard and out in whatever weather mother nature sends our way.

Applications are now being accepted at the Missouri State Fair Personnel Office Wednesday - Friday Noon to 6:00 PM CDT, and Saturdays from 10 AM - 1 PM CDT. And starting August 1, the Personnel Office will be open Monday - Friday 9:00 AM -5:00 PM CDT.

The Fair's application for employment lets applicants pick hree different areas they'd be interested in working in and also has a section where you can let them know about any specialized qualifications you may have. According to the Fair's employment page starting pay to work at the Fair is $15.00 an hour. All the documents you need to apply are available on their employment page.
