Milling of North State Fair Boulevard Begins Monday
Beginning on Monday, Oct. 24 and continuing through Friday, Nov. 4, the City of Sedalia’s Public Works will be milling, repairing base failures, and paving North State Fair Blvd. from West Main Street to Pro-Energy Drive.
During this period, there will be intermittent lane closures and restrictions as road improvements occur, heavy equipment and personnel will be in and around the roadway. Travelers are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible during the construction period.
From Mon., Oct. 24 through Thursday, Oct. 27 work will begin at 8 a.m. and
continue until 8 p.m. daily until milling is complete. No work will occur between 2:30
and 3:30 p.m. daily to accommodate shift changes at businesses located adjacent to the roadway.
Work is being scheduled to avoid local business start and release times as much as possible. Congestion is expected due to the lane restrictions and the volume of traffic normally using this roadway. Street staff plan to mill and patch any base failures in the roadway, which will remove failed surface material to allow for resurfacing.
During this period, there will be lane restrictions. Flaggers will be present along the roadway to assist drivers through the construction zone. Through traffic that can use an alternative roadway are encouraged to do so, during this construction phase.
During the week of Tues., Nov. 1, paving is planned to be completed during nighttime hours.
Beginning at 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. each day from Tuesday, Nov. 1 through Friday, Nov 4, paving will be completed. Flaggers will be directing traffic as heavy equipment and workers will be present in the roadway during this period. Lane closures and restrictions will be in effect during the paving operation. Travelers are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible as the open lane will be width limited. Inclement weather could delay the paving operation.
The City apologized for any inconvenience as they work to improve roadway safety in the area.
