MU Children’s Hospital Patients Trick-or-Treat
They may be in the hospital, but that isn’t stopping young princes and princesses, superheroes, witches and ghosts from dressing up and getting treats.
University of Missouri Health Care employees made sure young patients at MU Children’s Hospital today were still able to take part in Halloween traditions, with a bit of a twist.
More than 75 MU Health Care employees, many dressed in costumes, delivered Halloween treats to patients who stood anxiously awaiting at their hospital room doors.
“Dressing up for Halloween is a memory many children carry with them all their lives,” said Merideth Lehman, MU Children’s Hospital child life coordinator. “We don’t want these children to miss that memory. We try to create as normal and positive of an environment as possible for the children, and this is just one way we can provide that.”
Employees volunteered their time and provided candy, stickers, crayons, coloring books and other items to patients ranging in age from infants to teenagers.
Trick-or-treating at MU Children’s Hospital has been a tradition at MU Health Care for more than 20 years.
